Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Prohibition in respect of certain Imported Horses, Greyhounds, Machinery, Vehicles and Equipment) Order, 2001

I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 ( No. 6 of 1966 ) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )), for the prevention of spreading foot-and-mouth disease, hereby order as follows:

1.       This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Prohibition in respect of certain Imported Horses, Greyhounds, Machinery, Vehicles and Equipment) Order, 2001.

2.       A person shall not have in his or her possession or under his or her control or sell or supply -

(a)     any machinery, equipment, vehicle or container referred to in the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Import of Vehicles, Machinery and Other Equipment) Order, 2001 ( S.I. No. 51 of 2001 ), unless -

(i)      a licence has been granted in respect of it under that Order,

(ii)      it has been imported into the State in accordance with the licence, and

(iii) the licence accompanies it, or

(b)     any horse or greyhound referred to in the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Import of Horses and Greyhounds) (No. 2) Order, 2001 ( S.I. No. 85 of 2001 ), unless -

(i)      a licence has been granted in respect of it under that Order,

(ii)      it has been imported into the State in accordance with the licence, and

(iii)      the licence accompanies it.

3.       A person shall, on a request being made to him or her in that behalf by an authorised officer (within the meaning of section 17A (inserted by Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 ) produce the licence to the officer in respect of any thing referred to in Article 2 of this Order.
