ELECTORAL (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2001 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 2001

The Minister for the Environment and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1(9) of the Electoral (Amendment) Act, 2001 , hereby orders as follows:-

1.       This Order may be cited as the Electoral (Amendment) Act, 2001 (Commencement) Order, 2001.

2.       Sections 1 to 4, 9, 10, 14, 15, 24, 26, 28 to 48, 51, 52, 54 (other than paragraph (k)) and 55 shall come into operation on the making of this Order.

3.       Section 50 shall come into operation on 1 November, 2001.

4.       Sections 11, 16, 18 to 21, 23, 49 and 56 to 58 shall come into operation on 1 January, 2002.

5.       Sections 5 to 8, 12, 13, 25 and 27 shall come into operation on 15 February, 2002.

This Order brings into operation on the dates indicated the provisions of the Electoral (Amendment) Act, 2001 , as specified.
