EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (PASSENGER CAR ENTRY INTO SERVICE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2008.

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 24th June, 2008.

I, NOEL DEMPSEY, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Commission Directive 2007/35/EC of 18 June 2007 1 in so far as it relates to the entry into service of motor vehicles, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Passenger Car Entry into Service) (Amendment) Regulations 2008.

2. The European Communities (Passenger Car Entry into Service) Regu-lations 2003 ( S.I. No. 552 of 2003 ) are amended by substituting for Schedule 2 (inserted by the European Communities (Passenger Car Entry into Service) (Amendment) Regulations 2007)) ( S.I. No. 803 of 2007 ) the following:

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

These Regulations amend the European Communities (Passenger Car Entry into Service) Regulations 2003 ( S.I. No. 552 of 2003 ) by substituting a new Schedule for Schedule 2. The 2003 Regulations outline the requirements to be satisfied in relation to motor vehicle type approval matters for the first registration of new passenger cars in Ireland. Schedule 2 of these Regulations specify the separate EU motor vehicle type-approval directives which are applicable to such vehicles. These Regulations amend Schedule 2 by the inclusion of a further directive - Directive 2007/35/EC.
