MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS ACT 2007 (TRANSFER DAY) ORDER 2008

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 26th December, 2008.

I, MARY HARNEY, Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 97(1) of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 (No. 25 of 2007), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 (Transfer Day) Order 2008.

2. The 1st day of January 2009 is appointed as the transfer day for the purposes of Part 12 of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 (No. 25 of 2007).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

The Order provides for 1 January 2009 to be the transfer day for the purposes of the dissolution of the Postgraduate Medical and Dental Board (the Board) in accordance with the provisions of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 , as amended by the Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2007 . The staff, property and liabilities of the Board and any contractual arrangements or legal matters of which the Board is a party will transfer to the Health Service Executive with effect from the transfer day.
