CONTINENTAL SHELF (DESIGNATED AREAS) ORDER 2009

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

"Iris Oifigiúil" of 5th May, 2009.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 2(3) of the Continental Shelf Act 1968 (No. 14 of 1968), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Continental Shelf (Designated Areas) Order 2009.

2. The area set out in paragraph 1 of the Schedule to this Order is designated as an area within which the rights of the State outside the territorial seas over the sea bed and subsoil for the purpose of exploring such sea bed and subsoil and exploiting their natural resources are exercisable.

SCHEDULE

2. (a) For the purpose of paragraph 1 there shall be deemed to be specified at each of the reference numbers 1 to 42 a point being the point where the co-ordinates of latitude and longitude mentioned at those reference numbers meet.

(b) The points deemed to be specified at reference numbers 1 to 42 in paragraph 1 are defined by co-ordinates of latitude and longitude on World Geodetic System 1984 datum (WGS 1984).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The purpose of the Order is to designate the area concerned as an area within which the rights of the State to explore and exploit the natural resources of the seabed and subsoil of the Continental Shelf may be exercised.
