EUROPEAN UNION ACT 2009 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER 2009

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

"Iris Oifigiúil" of 24th November, 2009.

I, MICHEÁL MARTIN, Minister for Foreign Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 9(3) of the European Union Act 2009 (No. 33 of 2009) hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the European Union Act 2009 (Commencement) Order 2009.

2. The 1st day of December 2009 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the European Union Act 2009 (No. 33 of 2009) shall come into operation:

(a) sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7; and

(b) section 9.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order appoints the 1st day of December 2009 as the day on which sections 1 to 7 and section 9 of the European Union Act 2009 come into operation.
