I, RICHARD BRUTON, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving further effect to Council Regulation (EC) No 1236/2005 of 27 June 20051 as amended by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1352/2011 of 20 December 20112 hereby make the following regulations: |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Control of Trade in Goods That May Be Used for Torture) (Amendment) Regulations 2012. |
||
2. The European Communities (Control of Torture in Goods That May Be Used for Torture) Regulations ( S.I. No. 366 of 2006 ) are amended by the substitution of the following definition for the definition of "Council Regulation": |
||
" "Council Regulation" means Council Regulation (EC) No 1236/2005 of 27 June 20051 concerning trade in certain goods which could be used for capital punishment, torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment as amended by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1352/2011 of 20 December 20112.". |

The purpose of these Regulations is to amend the definition of "Council Regulation" in The European Communities (Control of Torture in Goods That May Be Used for Torture) Regulations ( S.I. No. 366 of 2006 ) to mean Council Regulation (EC) No 1236/2005 of 27 June 20053 concerning trade in certain goods which could be used for capital punishment, torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment as amended by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1352/20114 . |
