Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, SIMON COVENEY, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Animal Health) (Adaptation) Regulations 2014 and come into operation on 6 March 2014.

2. A reference in a provision mentioned in Schedule 1 to "authorised officer" is construed and has effect as if the reference includes a reference to an authorised officer within the meaning of section 2 of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 .

3. An authorised officer, within the meaning of an instrument mentioned in column (2) of Schedule 2 may, in substitution for the powers mentioned in column (4) opposite that mention, exercise any or all of the powers mentioned in section 38 of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 .

4. Each instrument mentioned in column (2) of Schedule 2 is repealed to the extent specified in column (3) of that Schedule opposite that mention.

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

The effect of these Regulations is to provide that an authorised officer within the meaning of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 is also an authorised for the purposes of the instruments cited in Schedule 1 and, in place of the powers cite in column (4) of Schedule 2, an authorised officer may exercise the powers conferred by section 38 of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 .
