I, ENDA KENNY, Taoiseach, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 25 (1) of the Statistics Act 1993 (No. 21 of 1993), hereby order as follows: |
||
1. This Order may be cited as the Statistics (Income of Private Hospitals) Order 2014. |
||
2. In this Order- |
||
"health care" means services for or in connection with the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of human illness; |
||
"medical provider" includes- |
||
(a) a registered medical practitioner within the meaning of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 (No. 25 of 2007), |
||
(b) a registered dentist within the meaning of the Dentists Act 1985 (No. 9 of 1985), and |
||
(c) a registered pharmacist within the meaning of the Pharmacy Act 2007 (No. 20 of 2007); |
||
"private hospital" means a hospital (including an approved centre within the meaning of section 63 of the Mental Health Act (No. 25 of 2001)) which- |
||
(a) provides health care, and |
||
(b) is not a publicly-funded hospital, |
||
and includes a private hospital where arrangements have been or may be made for the provision of services for a public patient by agreement with the HSE; |
||
"publicly-funded hospital" means a hospital which provides services to a person pursuant to his or her entitlement under Chapter II of Part IV of the Health Act 1970 (No. 1 of 1970). |
||
3. This Order applies to a private hospital in the State. |
||
4. A private hospital, to which this Order applies, shall provide the Central Statistics Office with the information in relation to its economic activities that is specified in the Schedule. |

SCHEDULE |
||
Article 4 |
||
1. Detailed income and expenditure statement in accordance with a private hospital’s audited financial statements for the years 2012 and 2013. |
||
2. The following particulars in accordance with a private hospital’s audited financial statements for the years 2012 and 2013- |
||
(a) income from public sources, |
||
(b) income from private health insurers, |
||
(c) income from patient contribution (classified by care type), |
||
(d) income from charitable sources, |
||
(e) income from private sources, |
||
(f) income from bequests, |
||
(g) income from medical providers for use of a private hospital’s facilities, |
||
(h) surplus of income over costs and expenditure, and |
||
(i) other sources of income. |
