Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

"Iris Oifigiúil" of 24th October, 2014.

I, ALAN KELLY, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 231 of the Local Government Act 2001 (No. 37 of 2001) (as adapted by the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 (No. 193 of 2011), and after consultation with the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 2001 (Section 231) Order 2014.

2. Section 231 of the Local Government Act 2001 shall have effect on and from the 1st day of January 2015 in respect of the joint drainage committees specified in the Schedule to this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

This Order provides for the dissolution of specified joint drainage committees and the transfer of their functions to the relevant local authorities, with effect from 1 January 2015.
