I, PASCHAL DONOHOE, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purposes of renewing an exemption under Article 2(4) of Regulation (EC) No. 1371/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 2007¹ , hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Union (Rail Passengers’ Rights and Obligations) (Domestic Passenger Rail Services) (Renewal of Exemption) Regulations 2014.

2. Domestic rail passenger services in the State which do not cross the borders of the State are exempt, until 4 December 2019, from the application of Articles 13, 15, 21 and 23 of Regulation (EC) No. 1371/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 October 20071.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The purpose of these Regulations is to renew the existing exemption insofar as to exempt Articles 13, 15, 21 and 23 until 4 December 2019 from the application of Regulation (EC) No. 1371/2007 of the European Parliament and Council on rail passengers’ rights and obligations.
