I, PASCHAL DONOHOE, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Road Traffic Act 2010 (No. 25 of 2010) (as adapted by the Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 141 of 2011 )), hereby order as follows: | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic Act 2010 (Section 54(d)) (Defective or Worn Tyres) (Commencement) Order 2016. | ||
2. The day fixed as the day on which section 54 (d) of the Road Traffic Act 2010 (No. 25 of 2010), in so far as it relates to the insertion of Part 9 into the First Schedule to the Road Traffic Act 2002 (No. 12 of 2002) other than the matter at reference numbers 1 and 2 in that Part, comes into operation is 17 April 2016. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||

These regulations set out the offences relating to the use of defective or worn tyres for which fixed charge notices may be issued by an Gárda Síochána and the associated penalties. The offences arise under Section 11(5) of the Road Traffic Act (1961 (No. 24 of 1961). |
