The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Mutual Assistance) Act 2008 (No. 7 of 2008) (as adapted by the Foreign Affairs (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 246 of 2011 ) and the Justice and Law Reform (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 138 of 2011 )), after consultation with the Minister for Justice and Equality, hereby orders as follows: | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice (Mutual Assistance) Act 2008 (Designation of Japan in Accordance with the Agreement with Japan) Order 2020. | ||
2. Japan is designated for the purposes of mutual assistance between the State and it under the Criminal Justice (Mutual Assistance) Act 2008 (No. 7 of 2008) in accordance with the Agreement with Japan. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.) | ||
This Order designates Japan for the purposes of mutual assistance between the State and Japan under the Criminal Justice (Mutual Assistance) Act 2008 , in accordance with the Agreement between the European Union and Japan on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, done at Brussels on 30 November 2009 and at Tokyo on 15 December 2009. |
