Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 22nd December, 2023.

I, KIERAN O’DONNELL, Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 4 and 21 of the Derelict Sites Act, 1990 and by the Housing, Local Government and Heritage (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order 2023 ( S.I. No. 116 of 2023 ), hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Derelict Sites Act 1990 (Urban Areas) Regulations 2023.

(2) These Regulations and the Derelict Sites Regulations, 1990 to 2022 may be cited together as the Derelict Sites Regulations, 1990 to 2023.

2. In these Regulations “Act of 1990” means the Derelict Sites Act 1990 (No. 14 of 1990).

3. (1) Each of the areas situated in the administrative county of Cork specified in Part 1 of the Schedule is prescribed to be an urban area for the purposes of the Act of 1990.

(2) Each of the areas situated in the administrative county of Galway specified in Part 2 of the Schedule is prescribed to be an urban area for the purposes of the Act of 1990.

(3) Each of the areas situated in the administrative county of Kerry specified in Part 3 of the Schedule is prescribed to be an urban area for the purposes of the Act of 1990.

(4) Each of the areas situated in the administrative county of Kilkenny specified in Part 4 of the Schedule is prescribed to be an urban area for the purposes of the Act of 1990.

(5) Each of the areas situated in the administrative county of Limerick specified in Part 5 of the Schedule is prescribed to be an urban area for the purposes of the Act of 1990.

(6) Each of the areas situated in the administrative county of Louth specified in Part 6 of the Schedule is prescribed to be an urban area for the purposes of the Act of 1990.

(7) Each of the areas situated in the administrative county of Mayo specified in Part 7 of the Schedule is prescribed to be an urban area for the purposes of the Act of 1990.

(8) Each of the areas situated in the administrative county of Roscommon specified in Part 8 of the Schedule is prescribed to be an urban area for the purposes of the Act of 1990.

(9) Each of the areas situated in the administrative county of Waterford specified in Part 9 of the Schedule is prescribed to be an urban area for the purposes of the Act of 1990
