An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna, after making such inquiries as it thinks proper and consultation with organisations and associations appearing to it to be representative of substantial numbers of employers in the activities referred to in this Order and of substantial numbers of persons employed in such activities, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Industrial Training Act 1967 (No. 5 of 1967) and by section 38 of the Further Education and Training Act 2013 (No. 25 of 2013) hereby makes the following Order: | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the Industrial Training (Beauty Therapy Industry) Order 2023. | ||
2. The following activities are hereby declared to be designated industrial activities for the purposes of the Industrial Training Act 1967 (No. 5 of 1967): | ||
(a) the provision of beauty or spa treatments to persons in a non-medical setting. | ||
3. In this Order, “beauty or spa treatments” includes make-up, manicure treatments, pedicure treatments, waxing and other hair removal treatments, eyelash treatments, eyebrow treatments, skincare treatments and massage treatments. | ||
4. The provisions of this Order shall not apply to any activity of industry for which a separate industrial training order is, for the time being, in force. | ||

An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna was established under the Further Education and Training Act 2013 to promote training in industry and commerce. | ||
This Order defines the activities of the beauty therapy industry in relation to which An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna shall exercise its functions in the creation of statutory apprenticeships. |
