The unanimous decision of the tribunal is that the applicant was dismissed by reason of redundancy and that the respondent shall pay to the applicant £3,600 for redundancy.
Appearances:
The applicant represented himself.
The respondent did not enter a Notice of Appearance and was not represented.
(i) The applicant was dismissed by reason of redundancy on 26 October 2001. The applicant approached the respondent on several occasion and was led to believe that he would receive a redundancy payment.
(ii) The applicant was employed by the respondent from May 1990 until 26 October 2001 and his gross salary was £250 per week.
15 weeks x £240 = £3,600
This is a relevant decision for the purposes of the Industrial Tribunals (Interest) Order (Northern Ireland) 1990.
