AGRICULTURE (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1970 AGRICULTURE (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1970 - LONG TITLE An Act to enable provision to be made for agricultural training; to amend or repeal certain enactments relating to noxious weeds, diseases of bees and animals, agricultural marketing, seeds and loans for agricultural and fishery development; to make further provision in connection with the dehorning of cattle; and for purposes connected with the matters aforesaid. [9th July 1970] S.1 inserts s.5(2A)(2B) in 1949 c.2 (NI). S.2 rep. by 1977 NI 1 art.8 sch.2. S.3 rep. by 1980 NI 7 art.5(c). Ss.4, 5 amend ss.3B, 6A of 1958 c.13 (NI). S.6 rep. by 1975 NI 3 art.11 sch. S.7 amends ss.1, 3, 6, 16, 22 of 1962 c.13 (NI). Ss.8, 9 amend ss. 5, 7, 8, 17, 19, 24 of 1964 c.13 (NI). S.10 amends ss.1, 2 of 1965 c.22 (NI). S.11 amends ss.6, 7 of 1968 c.21 (NI) Prohibition of exposure for sale, etc., of cattle recently dehorned. AGRICULTURE (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1970 - SECT 12 12.(1) Cattle bearing unhealed wounds which appear to have resulted from the removal of their horns shall not be (a)exposed for sale in any market or fair or sale-yard or other public or private place where animals are commonly offered or exposed for sale; or (b)brought to any slaughter-house. (2) If subsection (1) is contravened with respect to any cattle, the owner of the cattle shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding #50 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to both. (3) In this section "cattle" means bulls, cows, bullocks, heifers, calves, steers or oxen; "slaughter-house" means any building, premises or place used in connection with the business of killing animals for the purpose of the flesh being used for human consumption.
