17.(1) No information obtained by virtue of Article 10(4)(ii), 15 or 16 with respect to a particular person shall be disclosed except (a)so far as is authorised by Article 34; or (b)as may be necessary for the performance by any person of his functions under Article 10(5) in connection with the furnishing, collection or collation of the information; or (c)for the purposes of supplying information to the Department of Health and Social Services where the information is necessary for the performance by that Department of functions in connection with health or personal social services; or (d)for the purposes of supplying information to a government department in respect of a claim for any allowance or benefit under any statutory provision; or (e)for the purposes of supplying information in respect of the publication of statistics; or (f)for the purposes of any legal proceedings or report of such proceedings. (2) If any person discloses any information in contravention of paragraph (1), he shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable (a)on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding #50, or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months, or to both; or (b)on conviction on indictment to a fine not exceeding #100, or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or to both.
