42.(1) Where the age or death of a person is required to be proved for the purposes of any statutory provision specified in Schedule 1, any person shall, on presenting a written requisition in such form and containing such particulars as may be specified by the Department and on payment of such fee as may be prescribed, be entitled to a certified copy of the entry of the birth or death of that person in the relevant register under the hand of the person having the custody thereof or stamped with the seal of the General Register Office. (2) Forms for the requisitions referred to in paragraph (1) shall, on request, be supplied without charge by any person having the custody of a register. (3) The General Register Office and any registrar having custody of a register may, on payment of the prescribed fee, issue such information (including copies of or extracts from registers) as may be required for the purposes of any statutory provision specified in Schedule 1. (4) The Secretary of State may by order made subject to affirmative resolution add to the statutory provisions specified in Schedule 1 any other statutory provision for the purposes of which paragraphs (1) to (3) are to be applied. (5) Where an order is made under paragraph (4), this Article and Schedule 1 shall have effect accordingly.
