BANK NOTES (IRELAND) ACT 1864 BANK NOTES (IRELAND) ACT 1864 - LONG TITLE An Act for impressing by Machinery Signatures of Names on Bank Notes and certain Bills of the Bank of Ireland.{1} [29th July 1864] WHEREAS it is expedient that the name or names of the person or persons for the time being authorized by the Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland to sign bank notes, ..., and bank bills of exchange on behalf of the said Governor and Company should be impressed by machinery upon such bank notes, ..., and bank bills of exchange, in such form as may from time to time be adopted by the said Governor and Company, instead of being subscribed in the handwriting of such person or persons respectively: .... BANK NOTES (IRELAND) ACT 1864 - SECT 1 Power to impress names on bank notes, &c. of Bank of Ireland by machinery. 1. All bank notes, ..., and bank bills of exchange of the said Governor and Company, whereon the name or names of any person or persons authorized to sign such bank notes, ..., and bank bills of exchange on behalf of the said Governor and Company may be impressed by machinery, in such form as may from time to time be adopted by the said Governor and Company, and with the authority of the same, shall be and be taken to be good and valid to all intents and purposes, as if such bank notes, ..., and bank bills of exchange had been subscribed in the proper handwriting of the person or persons authorized by the said Governor and Company to sign the same respectively, and shall be deemed and taken to be bank notes, ..., and bank bills of exchange within the meaning of all laws and statutes whatsoever, and shall and may be described as bank notes, ..., and bank bills of exchange in all indictments and other criminal and civil proceedings whatsoever, any law, statute, or usage to the contrary notwithstanding.
