TOURIST TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1966 TOURIST TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1966 - LONG TITLE An Act to amend the Development of Tourist Traffic Act (Northern Ireland) 1948 as respects the date of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board's annual estimate of income and expenditure, as respects local authorities and their functions under Part III of that Act and to increase the maximum amount which may be issued out of the Consolidated Fund to local authorities under that Part; to amend the Development of Tourist Traffic (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 1963 as respects grants under section 6 of that Act; to authorise the collection of information about, and the making of surveys on, the tourist industry; and for purposes connected with those matters. [15th November 1966] Interpretation. TOURIST TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1966 - SECT 1 1. In this Act "the Act of 1963" means the Development of Tourist Traffic (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 1963; "the Ministry" means the Ministry of Commerce; and "the principal Act" means the Development of Tourist Traffic Act (Northern Ireland) 1948. S.2(1) amends s.6 of 1948 c.4 (NI); subs.(2) rep. by SLR 1973. S.3(1) rep. by 1972 NI 20 art.12(3); subs.(2) inserts s.25(2)(3) in 1948 c.4 (NI). S.4 rep. by 1971 c.6 (NI) s.9(3) sch.3. S.7 rep. by 1971 c.6 (NI) s.9(3) sch.3 TOURIST TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1966 - SECT 8 Statistical information about tourist industry. 8.(1) The Ministry may (a)collect, or cause to be collected, any statistics and information; and (b)carry out, or cause to be carried out, any survey; (2) The Ministry may, for the purpose of obtaining facts relating to the tourist industry or any class or section of that industry make a scheme requiring persons of a class specified in the scheme (being persons who provide facilities or services for persons travelling to or in, Northern Ireland, whether or not those facilities and services are also intended for use by other persons) (a)to furnish returns and other information, and to produce for examination on behalf of the Ministry, books and other documents in their custody or under their control; and (b)to keep records and to produce them for examination as mentioned in paragraph (a). (3) Any person who fails to comply with a requirement made under a scheme by virtue of subsection (2) shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding twenty-five pounds. (4) Any person who (a)in furnishing any information for the purposes of a scheme made under subsection (2), makes a statement which he knows to be false in a material particular or recklessly makes a statement which is false in a material particular; or (b)wilfully makes a false entry in any document which is required to be produced in pursuance of a scheme made under subsection (2); (5) The Ministry may publish, or permit the publication of, any statistics or information collected, or the results of any survey carried out, by or on behalf of the Ministry under subsection (1) or any information obtained by the Ministry in pursuance of the powers conferred by subsection (2). (6) The Ministry shall not disclose, or permit the disclosure of, any information obtained under this section except (a)in the form of a summary of information so obtained from a number of persons being a summary so framed as not to enable particulars relating to any one person or undertaking to be ascertained from it; or (b)with the consent of the person by whom the information was furnished. (7) A scheme made under subsection (2) shall be subject to affirmative resolution. S.9 rep. by SLR 1976 TOURIST TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1966 - SECT 10 Short title and citation. 10. This Act may be cited as the Tourist Traffic (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 1966 and the Development of Tourist Traffic Acts (Northern Ireland) 1948 to 1963 and this Act may be cited together as the Development of Tourist Traffic Acts (Northern Ireland) 1948 to 1966.
