EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations.)
The Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act (Northern Ireland) 2000 inserted a new Article 37A into the Child Support (Northern Ireland) Order 1991 whereby a court may order a person to be disqualified from driving on the grounds of non-payment of child support maintenance.
These Regulations amend Schedule 2 (licence fees) to the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 so as to extend the provision enabling the Department to charge a fee for a licence granted upon the expiry of a period of disqualification ordered by a court to include such a disqualification.
