The Secretary of State in pursuance of Articles 5(4) and 8(4) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Northern Ireland) Order 1978[1] hereby makes the following Order:
Citation, commencement and interpretation
1.
- (1) This Order may be cited as the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 14th August 2001.
(2) In this Order "the 1979 Order" means the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order (Northern Ireland) 1979[2].
Amendment of the 1979 Order
2.
For article 2(a)(ii) of the 1979 Order there shall be substituted:
"
(ii) of the person to whom the question relates for any office or employment specified in Part II of Schedule 1 or for any work specified in paragraph 12 of Part II of Schedule 1; or".
3.
For article 3(b) of the 1979 Order there shall be substituted:
"
(b) any office, employment or occupation specified in Part II or Part III of Schedule 1 or any other work specified in paragraph 12 of Part II of Schedule 1."
4.
For the heading to Schedule 1 to the 1979 Order there shall be substituted:
"
Excepted professions, offices, employments, work and occupations"
5.
For the heading to Part II of Schedule 1 to the 1979 Order there shall be substituted:
"
Offices, employments and work".
6.
For paragraph 12 of Part II of Schedule 1 to the 1979 Order there shall be substituted:
"
12.
Any employment or other kind of work which is concerned with the provision of health services and which is of such a kind as to enable the holder to have access to persons in receipt of such services in the course of his normal duties."

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order.)
This Order amends the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order (Northern Ireland) 1979 by excepting
work
which is concerned with the provision of health services and which is of such a kind as to enable the holder to have access to persons in receipt of such services in the course of his normal duties.
