The Community Drivers' Hours (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Temporary Exception) (No. 2) (Amendment No. 6) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001

  Made 1st November 2001 
  Coming into operation 4th November 2001 

The Department of the Environment, being a Department designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2] in relation to the regulation and supervision of working conditions of persons engaged in road transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by that section and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement
     1. These Regulations may be cited as the Community Drivers' Hours (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Temporary Exception) (No. 2) (Amendment No. 6) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001 and shall come into operation on 4th November 2001.

Interpretation
    
2.  - (1) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954[3] shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

    (2) In these Regulations "the principal Regulations" mean the Community Drivers' Hours (Foot and Mouth Disease) (Temporary Exception) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001[4].

Amendment to regulation 2 (interpretation)
     3. In regulation 2(1) of the principal Regulations, in the definition of "prescribed period" for the words "period of 30 days beginning on 4th October 2001" there shall be substituted "period of 56 days beginning on 3rd November 2001".

Amendment to regulation 3 (temporary exceptions)
    
4. For paragraph (2) of regulation 3 of the principal Regulations there shall be substituted -
