PENSIONS

The Welfare Reform and Pensions (1999 Order) (Commencement No. 10) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002

  Made 31st January 2002 

The Department for Social Development, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(2) of the Welfare Reform and Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 1999[1], and now vested in it[2], and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and interpretation
     1.  - (1) This Order may be cited as the Welfare Reform and Pensions (1999 Order) (Commencement No. 10) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002.

    (2) In this Order any reference to a numbered Article or Schedule is to the Article of, or the Schedule to, the Welfare Reform and Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 bearing that number.

Appointed day
     2. The day appointed for the coming into operation of - 

Amendment of the Welfare Reform and Pensions (1999 Order) (Commencement No. 9) Order
     3. Article 2(b) of the Welfare Reform and Pensions (1999 Order) (Commencement No. 9) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001[5] shall be omitted.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order.)


This Order provides for the coming into operation on 6th April 2002 of Articles 12 to 15 of the Welfare Reform and Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 (which concern the effect of bankruptcy on an individual's pension rights) and related consequential amendments and repeals in Schedules 9 and 10 to that Order.

Article 3 amends the Welfare Reform and Pensions (1999 Order) (Commencement No. 9) Order (Northern Ireland) 2001 to revoke the day previously appointed for the coming into operation of provision in relation to occupational pension schemes for certificates etc. relating to minimum funding requirement.
