POLICE

The Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000 (Policing Plan) Regulations 2002

  Made 5th March 2002 
  To be laid before Parliament
  Coming into operation 1st April 2002 

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 26(2)(b) of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000[1], and after consulting the Northern Ireland Policing Board and the Chief Constable, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, operation and interpretation
     1.  - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000 (Policing Plan) Regulations 2002 and, subject to paragraph (2) below, shall come into operation on 1st April 2002.

    (2) Regulation 3(e), (f) and (g) shall come into operation on 1st October 2002.

    
2. In these Regulations - 

Statements and particulars to be included in the policing plan
    
3. The policing plan issued by the Board under section 26(1) of the Act shall include (in addition to the matters specified in section 26(2)(a) of the Act) -

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)


These Regulations set out the statements and particulars which are to be included in the annual policing plan which the Northern Ireland Policing Board are required to issue under section 26(1) of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000. The policing plan must set out the proposed arrangements for the policing of Northern Ireland and, in addition to the matters prescribed in these Regulations, must also include the matters specified in section 26(2)(a) of the Act (which relate to requirements for educating and training police officers and members of the police support staff). Regulation 1 provides that the Regulations will come into force on 1st April 2002, except for regulation 3(e), (f) and (g), which will come into force on 1st October 2002.
