The Fisheries Conservancy Board for Northern Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 26(1) of the Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1966 [1], with the approval of the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure [2], makes the following Byelaws:
Citation and Commencement
1.
These Byelaws may be cited as the Public Angling Estate (Amendment) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2006 and shall come into operation on 3rd July 2006.
Amendment of the Public Angling Estate Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2005
2.
The Public Angling Estate Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2005 [3] shall be amended as provided in Byelaws 3 to 4.
3.
In Byelaw 3 in the definition of "rainbow trout", for the words "Salmo Gairdneri" there shall be substituted the words "Oncorhynchus Mykiss".
4.
In the Schedule:
(a) in the entry in relation to River Bush and tributaries, after paragraph (c), there shall be added
"(d) On the River Bush between the defined mouth of the river [4] to a point 457 metres downstream of the Lower Road Bridge, Bushmills |

(b) in column 2 of the entry in relation to Lough Money there shall be inserted "Bait fishing for pike with barbless hooks or hooks with flattened barbs only and hook size 4 or greater. Deadbait shall be a minimum size of 100mm";
(c) in column 2 of the entry in relation to Craigavon City Park Lakes, (a) North Lake there shall be inserted "Bait fishing for pike with barbless hooks or hooks with flattened barbs only and hook size 4 or greater. Deadbait shall be a minimum size of 100mm";
(d) in column 2 of the entry in relation to White Lough there shall be inserted "Bait fishing for pike with barbless hooks or hooks with flattened barbs only and hook size 4 or greater. Deadbait shall be a minimum size of 100mm".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Byelaws)
These Byelaws amend the Public Angling Estate Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2005.
The principal changes are as follows:–
1.
The species name for rainbow trout has been corrected to Oncorhynchus Mykiss (Byelaw 3).
2.
A further stretch of the River Bush between the defined mouth of the river to a point 457 metres downstream of the Lower Road Bridge, Bushmills, has been added to the list of waters to which the Byelaws apply (Byelaw 4).
3.
The methods of angling permitted on Lough Money, Craigavon North Lake and White Lough have been amended to include bait fishing for pike (Byelaw 4).
