The Department for Regional Development[1] makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 65(4) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993[2] and now vested in it[3].
It appears to the Department that the Regulations are necessary or expedient in the interests of safety and the free movement of traffic.
Citation and commencement
1.
These Regulations may be cited as The Road Humps (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 and shall come into operation on 20th April 2007.
Amendments
2.
Regulation 3 (Nature, dimension and location of road humps) of the Road Humps Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999[4] shall be amended as follows—
(1) In paragraph (2) for the words "paragraph 4 of Part I of Schedule 2 to the Zebra Crossings Regulations" there shall be substituted the words "paragraph 8 of Part II of Schedule 1 to the 2006 Regulations".
(2) In paragraph (4) for the words "Schedule 2 to the Pelican Crossings Regulations" there shall be substituted the words "Part II of Schedule 4 to the 2006 Regulations".
(3) For paragraph (7) there shall be substituted the following paragraph—
"
(7) In this regulation—
"the 2006 Regulations" means The Zebra, Pelican and Puffin Pedestrian Crossings Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006[5];
"Pelican controlled area" has the same meaning as in regulation 2 of the 2006 Regulations;
"Pelican crossing" has the same meaning as in regulation 2 of the 2006 Regulations;
"zebra controlled area" has the same meaning as "Zebra controlled area" in regulation 2 of the 2006 Regulations;
"zebra crossing" has the same meaning as "Zebra crossing" in regulation 2 of the 2006 Regulations."

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Road Humps Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 by removing the references to the "Zebra" Pedestrian Crossings Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1974 and the (Pelican) Pedestrian Crossings Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1989 and replacing them with references to The Zebra, Pelican and Puffin Pedestrian Crossings Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006.
