The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, is designated[1] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[2], in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Community.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972.
Citation and commencement
1.
These Regulations may be cited as The Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 and come into operation on 28th August 2007.
Interpretation
2.
The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954[3] shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
Amendment
3.
—(1) The Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007[4] are amended as follows.
(2) In regulation 2 (Interpretation) for the definition of "the Decision" substitute—
"
"the Decision" means Commission Decision 2007/554/EC[5] concerning certain protection measures against foot-and-mouth disease in the United Kingdom as amended by Commission Decision 2007/588/EC[6];".
(3) In paragraph (2)(a) of regulation 5 (dispatch of meat products) and paragraph (2)(d) of regulation 7 (dispatch of dairy products) for "Great Britain" substitute—
"
the protection zones and the surrounding consolidated surveillance zone established in accordance with Article 21 of Directive 2003/85/EC in County Surrey in Great Britain[7]".

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend The Export Restrictions (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 (S.R. 2007 No. 357). The Regulations give effect to Commission Decision 2007/588/EC of 24th August 2007 which amends Commission Decision 2007/554/EC concerning certain protection measures against foot-and-mouth disease in the United Kingdom.
