Coming into operation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Measuring Instruments (Use for Trade) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008 and shall come into operation on 17th March 2008.
2. In each of the Regulations listed in the Schedule, after regulation 2 insert–
"2A. In these Regulations a reference to member State includes Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein.".

These Regulations amend the Regulations specified in the Schedule by inserting in each of them a definition of "member State" so as to expressly include Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein in that definition. This means that when an instrument to which any of those Regulations relate is made available in any of these countries it is placed on the market for the purposes of those Regulations.
These Regulations are made in consequence of a defect in the Regulations listed in the Schedule and will be issued free of charge to all known recipients of those Regulations.
