The Department of the Environment makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 26(2) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (Northern Ireland) 2010(1):
1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (2010 Act) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 2011.
2. In so far as not already in operation, the day appointed for the coming into operation of Part 1 (contracts of councils) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (Northern Ireland) 2010 shall be 1st August 2011.

This Order provides for the coming into operation of Part 1 (contracts of councils) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act (Northern Ireland) 2010. Section 3 of Part 1 (insofar as it enabled the Department to make regulations), Part 2 and Part 3 came into operation on the day after the day on which the Act received Royal Assent.
