Road Traffic And Vehicles
The Department of the Environment makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Articles 65(1) and (2) and 110(2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995(1).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Goods Vehicles (Testing) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 and shall come into operation on 1st May 2012.
2.-(1) Schedule 3 to the Goods Vehicles (Testing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003(2) is amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (4).
(2) In paragraph 1 of Part I for item 5 of the table substitute-
| "5 | 35, 36 and 37 | Glass and field of vision" |
(3) In paragraph 5 of Part II-
(a)in sub-paragraph (a) after the number"7," insert "8,"; and
(b)after sub-paragraph (c) insert-
"(d)The requirements, in so far as they relate to the installation of recording equipment in Article 3 and the seals to be affixed to such equipment in Article 12 and paragraph 4 of Section V of Annex I of the Community Recording Equipment Regulation (as defined in Article 53 of the 1995 Order).".
(4) In paragraph 6 of Part III-
(a)for the words "driving seat" substitute "seats"; and
(b)for the words "doors, locks and hinges." substitute-
"doors, locks and hinges;
supplementary restraint systems;
electronic stability control systems.".

These Regulations amend Schedule 3 to the Goods Vehicles (Testing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 to comply with Commission Directive 2010/48/EU by amending item 5 in paragraph 1 to include reference to regulations 36 and 37 and the subject matter to include the word "glass". Paragraph 5 is amended to include speedometers and tachographs in the annual test for N1 vehicles. Paragraph 6 is also amended to add references to supplementary restraint systems and electronic stability control systems.
