Coming into operation
1st August 2020
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Agriculture (Student fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2020 and shall come into operation on the 1st August 2020.
2. The Agriculture (Student fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007(3) shall be amended as provided by regulations 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
3. In regulation 1(2) after the definition of "higher education" insert-
""international students" has the meaning assigned by regulation 4(5);"
4. In regulation 4 (1)(4) for "£1,690" substitute "£1,735":
5. After regulation 4(3) insert-
"(4) Subject to paragraph (5) and Regulation 5 the fee payable to the Department by an international student for each week of tuition in respect of a full time higher education course shall be £300.
(5) International students are defined as persons undertaking a course of study at the College of Agriculture Food and Rural Enterprise who are not included in the categories of person under Schedule 2 Part 2 of The Education (Student Support) (No. 2) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009(5)."
6. In regulation 4(4) for "(4)" substitute "(6)".
7. In regulation 5(2) (6) for "£825" substitute "£845".
8. The Agriculture (Student fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2019(7) are revoked.

These Regulations amend the Agriculture (Student fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007.
These Regulations increase the level of fee to be paid by persons undertaking a course of higher education provided by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs as set out in Regulations 4 and 7.
Regulation 5 introduces a tuition fee for international students who first start a course of higher education provided by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs on or after 1st August 2020 and provides a definition of ‘international students' for the purpose of these regulations.
Regulation 6 re-numbers regulation 4(4) to regulation 4(6) as a result of regulation 4.
