£40 damages given In solatium of being spat upon.
Action of damages (laid at £500), by Tullis, bookseller in Cupar Fife, against Glenday, manufacturer there, for having spat in his face. There had been no provocation given at the time, and that pleaded by the defender had been a previous reference to him in a newspaper, of which Tullis was alleged to be proprietor and a conductor. The defender, however, led no evidence, and
The Jury found for the pursuer, with £40 of damages.
