The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 4(1)(b) and (2) of schedule 9 of the Tribunals (Scotland) Act 2014(1) and all other powers enabling them to do so.
In accordance with paragraph 4(3) of schedule 9 of that Act, the Scottish Ministers have consulted the President of Tribunals and such other persons as they considered appropriate.
1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Upper Tribunal for Scotland (Rules of Procedure) Amendment Regulations 2016.
(2) These Regulations come into force on 1st December 2016.
2.-(1) The Upper Tribunal for Scotland Rules of Procedure 2016 contained in the schedule of the Upper Tribunal for Scotland (Rules of Procedure) Regulations 2016(2) are amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
(2) In rule 29 (notice of decisions and reasons), after paragraph (3) insert-
"(3A) A request under paragraph (3) must be made in writing.".

These Regulations amend rule 29 of the Upper Tribunal for Scotland Rules of Procedure 2016 contained in the schedule of the Upper Tribunal for Scotland (Rules of Procedure) Regulations 2016 to provide that a request by a party for written reasons for an oral decision must be in writing.
