The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 45(2) and (3) of the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016(1).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2017 and come into force on 24th April 2017.
2. 24th April 2017 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016-
(a)section 44 (consequential modifications), for the purpose of bringing into force paragraph 6(1) and (2)(c) of the schedule; and
(b)paragraph 6(1) and (2)(c) of the schedule (modification of the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014(2)).

These Regulations bring into force certain provisions of the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 ("the Act") on 24th April 2017. Regulation 2 brings into force paragraph 6(1) and (2)(c) of the schedule of the Act (which makes amendments to Part 1 of the schedule of the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014). Section 44 of the Act is also brought into force for the purpose of giving effect to paragraph 6(1) and (2)(c) of the schedule.
The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 9th March 2016. Sections 41 to 43, 45 and 46 came into force on the following day.
