The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 35(2) of the Scottish Elections (Reform) Act 2020(1).
1.-(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Scottish Elections (Reform) Act 2020 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2020 and come into force on 1 October 2020.
(2) In these Regulations "the Act" means the Scottish Elections (Reform) Act 2020.
2. 1 October 2020 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the provisions of the Act specified in column 1 of the table in the schedule (the subject matter of which is specified in column 2 of that table).

The Bill for the Scottish Elections (Reform) Act 2020 ("the Act") received Royal Assent on 8 July 2020. Part 5 of the Act came into force on the following day. These Regulations bring into force sections 1, 3, 6 to 9, 11, 13 to 19 and 22 to 27 of the Scottish Elections (Reform) Act 2020 on 1 October 2020.
