Brayford Parish Council (Decision Notice) [2006] UKICO FS50091488 (13 July 2006)

Summary: The complainant requested copies of the deeds and correspondence related to the purchase of an area of land by the council. As a result of previous relations between the council and the complainant the council had decided to deal with the complainant via their solicitor. The request was therefore passed on to the solicitors, who failed to deal with it appropriately, and then frustrated attempts by the Commissioner to resolve the complaint informally. The Commissioner has now issued a decision notice requiring the council to respond to the request within 30 days of its service.
