Summary: The complainant requested a copy of a letter received by the UK government and copied to the Commissioner regarding alleged deficiencies in the implementation of Directive 95/46/EC by the UK. Although the Commissioner accepts that in some respects the request could have been better handled, in particular the manner of the refusal of the request, he remains of the view that he was correct not to communicate the requested information to the complainant. In the light of that conclusion, the notice requires no further action.
