Summary: The complainant requested information from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport comprising of correspondence in connection with requests made by the BBC and Channel 4 for exemption from certain duties under the Equality Act 2010. This request was refused under section 35(1)(a) (formulation and development of government policy) of the Act. In respect of the information which continues to be withheld the Commissioner is satisfied that the exemption is engaged and, in all the circumstances of this case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosure. The Commissioner orders no steps to be taken.
