Summary: The complainant requested the details of how much money had been spent and was expected to be spent by the BBC on its coverage of the Papal visit to Britain by Pope Benedict XVI. The BBC stated that the requested information fell outside the scope of the Act because it is information held for the purposes of journalism, art or literature. The Commissioner-™s decision is that the requested information is genuinely held for the purposes of journalism. Therefore the BBC is not obliged to comply with Parts I to V of the Act.
