Summary: The complainant requested correspondence regarding a funding grant by the Department for Education to the charity -˜Booktrust-™ for the financial years 2013-15. The Cabinet Office withheld this information on the basis that it was all exempt on the basis of section 36(2)(b)(i) of FOIA (effective conduct of public affairs) and that some of it was exempt on the basis of section 40(2) (personal data). The Commissioner has concluded that all of the requested information is exempt from disclosure on the basis of section 36(2)(b)(i) and that the public interest favours maintaining the exemption.
