The complainant requested information about legal aid costs relating to a number of cases involving named individuals. The Ministry of Justice (the ‘MOJ’) neither confirmed nor denied holding the requested information citing section 40(5) (personal information) of the FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that the MOJ was entitled to rely on section 40(5)(b)(i). He requires no steps to be taken.
