22 October 2015, Central government
The complainant has requested information about whether certain named individuals, including former Prime Minister Tony Blair, have been contacted by the Chilcot Inquiry as part of the Maxwellisation process. The Cabinet Office refused to confirm or deny whether it held any information within the scope of the request citing section 41(2) (information provided in confidence) as its basis for doing so. It upheld this at internal review. The Commissioner’s decision is that the Cabinet Office is not obliged to provide confirmation or denial in response to the complainant’s request by virtue of section of 41(2). No steps are required.
FOI 41: Not upheld
