9 March 2016, Education (University)
The complainant requested information concerning the University of Cambridge’s (“the University”) alumni associations. The University did not respond to the request in reliance on section 17(6) of FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that the University is entitled to rely on section 17(6) and was therefore not obliged to respond to the complainant’s request. The Commissioner does not require the public authority to take any steps to ensure compliance with the legislation.
