The complainant requested the personnel file of a named police officer. South Yorkshire Police withheld the information, citing section 40(2) (personal information) of the FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that South Yorkshire Police has applied section 40(2) of the FOIA appropriately. The Commissioner does not require South Yorkshire Police to take any steps as a result of this decision. This decision notice is currently under appeal to the Tribunal.
