Cabinet Office

The complainant has requested information regarding the information shared between HMRC and the Cabinet Office with regards to the awarding of Honours. The Commissioner’s decision is that the Cabinet Office is entitled to withhold information under sections 36 and 37. However, the Commissioner has determined that the Cabinet Office is not entitled to rely on section 21 with regards to the number of high risk ratings. The Commissioner requires the public authority to disclose the number of high risk ratings received by year. The public authority must take these steps within 35 calendar days of the date of this decision notice. Failure to comply may result in the Commissioner making written certification of this fact to the High Court pursuant to section 54 of the Act and may be dealt with as a contempt of court.
