HM Revenue and Customs

The complainant requested from HM Revenue and Customs (“HMRC”) information relating to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (“CJRS”). HMRC refused to disclose some of the information and cited section 31(1)(a) (prejudice to the prevention or detection of crime) of the FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that HMRC correctly applied the exemption to the information relating to questions 2, 4 and 6 of the request. Therefore, the Commissioner does not require HMRC to take any steps as a result of this decision.
