Financial Ombudsman Service

The complainant submitted an information request to the Financial Ombudsman Service (“FOS”) for information relating to correspondence supplied by FOS to the Independent Assessor in relation to a service complaint. FOS withheld the information under section 40(1) and offered to treat the complainant’s correspondence as a subject access request (SAR). The Commissioner’s decision is that FOS is entitled to withhold the information under section 40(1). The Commissioner does not require FOS to take any steps as a result of this decision notice.
