Department for Work and Pensions

The complainant has requested the Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) conducted in relation to the Integrated Risk and Intelligence Service (IRIS). The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) disclosed redacted versions of the DPIAs citing section 31(1)(a) for the exempt information. The Commissioner’s decision is that DWP has correctly engaged section 31(1)(a) and the balance of the public interest favours maintaining the exemption. The Commissioner finds that DWP breached section 10(1) by disclosing the redacted DPIAs outside of the statutory time frame. The Commissioner does not require further steps.
